Who are we? – What do we do?

Jim Ferguson
Chairman

Crime prevention panels were first proposed as a government initiative in the late 70′s and quickly developed across Britain. The main reason was to put a higher emphasis on prevention than had been done previously. The Inverness panel was formed in the mid 1980′s.

Many of the Panel members come from Professional backgrounds but anyone from within the community who has an interest in preventing crime is considered for membership.

Our panel works closely with local police on lead initiatives and joint projects with a direct bearing on the communities that we serve.

* We are also delighted that Nick Ross, former presenter of BBC Crimewatch is one of our Patrons and thank him for his interest in our organisation.*

” Inter-agency working and forming stronger ties with other like minded organisations including local businesses will see the panel take on a much higher profile within the Highlands community and we have a clear set of objectives in mind. We have formed close working relationships with Area Commander Chief Inspectort Julian Innes who oversees our programme, and also benefit from outstanding support from his highly effective team of officers.

We are constantly taking appropriate steps to ensure continuous improvement” said Jim.

Mission Statement:

We are proactive and provide crime prevention information to many groups of people”.
